Practice Nurses
Our full-time Nursing Sister, Mary Gallery works along with our
part-time Staff nurses, Sandra Wylie. As well as
general nursing duties, they are available by appointment for
general health and dietary advice, well person clinics and blood
tests. Sister Gallery has particular expertise in family
planning and is closely involved in running foreign travel
immunisation clinics, diabetic clinics and asthma/respiratory
clinics with the doctors. The practice nursing team are
supported by Shona Templeton, Health Care Assistant.
District Nursing Staff
There is a District Nursing service attached to the practice,
Sister Eleanor Crate, assisted by Staff Nurses Mary Williamson
Patricia Cassidy and nursing assistants Jane McNally, Christine
Christie and Aileen Dunlop. They are primarily available to give
nursing care to patients in their homes at the request of the
hospital, the doctors or relatives. In addition, the special
needs of the over 75 year old patients are looked after by Staff
Nurse Elizabeth Adam and nursing assistant Aileen Dunlop.
Health Visitors
Elinor Fleming is involved in the healthcare of patients,
particularly children, the elderly and physically disabled.
Along with the Doctors in the practice, Elinor carries out Child Health.
Practice Manager
Joanne Gibson is in overall charge of the day to day running of
the practice. She co-ordinates and implements practice policy
and ensures staff training remains the highest priority. If you
have any suggestions or
complaints, please make these known to
Joanne or one of the Doctors.
Receptionists and Administrative Staff
There are four full-time and seven part time staff who carry out
administrative and reception duties and help patients with their
enquiries. Reception staff are trained and qualified for their
job and are a very important part of the healthcare team. They
act on the Doctors' instructions and maintain the strictest
confidentiality. When telephoning for medical attention they may
ask you for some personal
details which may include date of birth for accurate
identification. This information helps them to deal with your
enquiry quickly and efficiently.
Community Psychiatric Nurses
They are based at Seafield Base, Doonfoot Road and are normally
contacted through the Doctors in the practice. Those patients
who have in the past, or are currently under their care can
contact them directly. Patients can request to see their CPN at
the surgery.
